Maduro asked to "take care of political union" in an act for the 10th anniversary of Chávez's death

Hugo Chávez died on March 5, 2013 after battling cancer. Several former presidents of the region, allies of Chavismo, arrived in the country to participate in an act in his memory, including Daniel Ortega, accused by the UN this week of committing crimes against humanity in Nicaragua.

During the act to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the death of Hugo Chávez, President Nicolás Maduro asked to be at the forefront of the construction of the new socialist model that responds to the realities of the peoples. “Zero complacency with minimalism, revolution or nothing, changes in favor of the people or nothing,” he insisted; at the time that he asked to say “no to the dissolving, divisive forces. We must take care of the political union, the union of our people and unite everything that can be united; that is the base», he affirmed.

In the 4F Mountain Barracks, where Chávez’s remains rest, they held a vigil, there were fireworks and cannon fire in honor of the former president.

Although Maduro was not present at the first part of the commemorative acts, in the afternoon he led a ceremony called “World Meeting for the Validity of Commander Hugo Chávez’s Bolivarian Thought” from the Teresa Carreño Theater.

«The intention to vote for Chávez would be 56% of Venezuelans. It exceeds the vote intention of all politicians in this country,” said Nicolás Maduro after reading the results of a survey carried out by Polianalitica (a political intelligence agency for decision-making).

However, the tweet of this account says exactly that “the approval of Hugo Chávez ten years after his death is of 56%». In the same way, it indicates that “the intention of votes is currently 48.49%”; according to More Consulting.

Several former presidents of the region, allies of Chavismo, came to the country to participate in the events in memory of Chávez. Cuban Raúl Castro, Manuel Zelaya (from Honduras), Rafael Correa (Ecuador), Evo Morales (from Bolivia) and its current president, Luis Arce. Daniel Ortega, President of Nicaragua, was also present.

The UN Group of Human Rights Experts on Nicaragua concluded that Daniel Ortega and his wife Rosario Murillo committed crimes against humanity in his country, together with seven State institutions since 2018, when social protests were repressed with high-caliber bullets by the police and paramilitary groups.

“Be more like Chávez”

Diosdado Cabello, first vice president of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), led the acts in honor of the former president early this Sunday morning at the Cuartel de la Montaña 4F and said that Chávez must be remembered with spirituality, love , humanity, working, sharing, suffering and “always alive and if we want to remember Chávez even more, let’s be like Chávez, at least five minutes a day.”

Cabello also emphasized that Hugo Chávez is not only for Venezuelans, but for “all men and women who desire freedom in the world.”

The National Armed Forces issued a statement to honor Chávez’s legacy, where it says that “it reaffirms its eminently popular, anti-imperialist and anti-oligarchic character” and highlights its commitment to the defense of the nation.

In the same way, the National Armed Forces thanked Chávez for remaining “eternally in the heart and conscience of your people.”

The first events in memory of Chávez began on Friday, March 3, with different activities in various states of the country together with the leaders of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV).

There were also various activities in squares such as Pagüita, El Calvario, El Rincón del Taxista, Plaza O’Leary, Parque Alí Primera, Plaza Sucre, Plaza Miranda and Plaza Caracas, which marched to the Cuartel de la Montaña.
