Maduro announces recovery of museums and asks that no one surrender to violence

Nicolás Maduro said that the call for the Architecture Competition for the proposal for a new headquarters of the Armando Reverón Museum of Contemporary Art of Caracas was approved. He noted that the statue of Chief Coromoto, which was demolished on July 29, will be replaced.

The ruler Nicolas Maduro announced this Thursday, October 17, that his administration is making progress in the recovery of the country’s museums.

He referred to the restoration of the Alejandro Otero Museum in Caracas. Likewise, Maduro said that the call for the Architecture Contest for the proposal for a new headquarters for the Armando Reverón Museum of Contemporary Art of Caracas was approved.

He argued that museums should be brought to the community. “All museum spaces have to be open to show the talent of our visual artists,” he stated.

During the inauguration of the 66th edition of the Arturo Michelena Salon, in the state of Carabobo, Maduro thanked the artists who participated in this opportunity and said that they are incorporated “in the strength of the soul, of the identity that transcends, even from spirituality.” .

He also announced that next week the work of art of Chief Coromoto will be restored in Portuguesa.

«I have not been able to understand how in that disastrous hour of savagery, hatred and violence, that Monday, July 29, the statue of the great chief Coromoto was thrown to the ground and dragged through the streets of Guanare, 532 years later. What did they carry in their soul? “They were full of what?” Maduro said.

The president also called for peace and in that sense referred to a billboard he saw at the entrance to Valencia that said “Long live free Palestine.” In his opinion, there would have to be thousands of artists who would have to create the work of human regeneration: “Once again those who hate and want to dominate are advancing with bombs, destroying in Palestine, in Lebanon, in Syria.”

Maduro asked that, from art, no one be intimidated, that no one give up and that “1,000 Picassos” emerge.

In addition, he pointed out that, by 2025, the Southern Biennial will be organized, which will have the BRICS countries as special guests and will be held in the country.
