Maduro announces changes in four ministries

The President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, announced on Monday the appointment of new ministers in the portfolios of Foreign Affairs, Industry and Production, Transport and Labor, and Social Security.

In a meeting with the Council of Vice Presidents and High Political Command, Maduro appointed the Venezuelan ambassador to Russia, Carlos Faría, as the new Minister of Foreign Affairs.

The president affirmed that Faría knows very well the Bolivarian peace diplomacy, the geopolitical environment and the fight for a multipolar, multicentric world and the development of the fight against hegemony.

“Carlos Faría fully assumes the Foreign Ministry starting tomorrow,” said the head of state, who thanked the outgoing foreign minister, Félix Plasencia, for his efforts and work, whom he said will go to new responsibilities “very much for the international development of the economy.” .

«Félix Plasencia is going to have tremendous responsibilities in a place that is the epicenter of the future of investments and the growth of the Venezuelan economy. Soon I will be announcing it », he advanced.

The president also appointed deputy Francisco Torrealba as the new minister for the Social Labor Process, and his task will be to “build the rights of the working class” and go to “solve all the problems” of the workers.

Likewise, Maduro announced the appointment of the until now Minister of Transportation, Hipólito Abreu, as the new head of the Ministry of Industries and Production.

He affirmed that Abreu had a successful experience as Minister of Transport and in the automotive sector, for which he urged him to work to develop the national industry.

“The entire industry, to obtain investments, to support the growth of the entire industry. To relate, Hipólito, with all the economic factors of the country, by economic engine (…) to continue in the task of linking ourselves directly with the industrialists », he requested.

Maduro also announced the appointment of the president of the state airline Conviasa, Ramón Velásquez Araguayán, as the new Minister of Transportation.

The head of state described Velásquez as “successful among the successful” after having taken Conviasa “to the level of development never seen before.”

“He is a man with a modern, technological mentality, who combines technology, strategy, command, to continue the extraordinary work of Hipólito Abreu,” he said.

Colombian plan to assassinate police officers

In his speech, Maduro denounced a series of plans coming from Colombia and whose purpose is “to buy criminals in Venezuela to throw bombs at them and try to assassinate policemen, soldiers.”

“Iván Duque from Colombia has put together a plan and has invested several million dollars to hire criminals who throw grenades, bombs and attack police centers, military centers with bullets, as the drug trafficker Pablo Escobar did against the Police there in Medellín”, warned.

Maduro encouraged the Minister of Interior Relations and the Minister of Defense, Remigio Ceballos and Vladimir Padrino López, respectively, as well as the military and police forces.

“Equal (to Escobar’s) is the plan to try to socially destabilize Venezuela. Alert police friend, police friend, military colleagues, watch and listen,” added Maduro.
