Maduro announces again that he will host a television space such as "Hello, President"

Nicolás Maduro once again announces a space in the media with which he seeks contact with Venezuelans. This is not the first attempt of this style that he has made, since he tried it on at least two occasions: one on television and one on the radio.

The Venezuelan president Nicolás Maduro wants to resume a fixed television space, as he has done on other occasions and which have lasted a limited period of time. On this occasion, the new “program” will be called “Con Maduro +”.

This is what Maduro said in a video published in Twitter by the Minister of Communication and Information, Freddy Ñáñez, explaining that this new television space opens this Monday, April 17 at 5:00 pm.

“Surprise, surprise. Monday at 5. Don’t miss it. ‘With Maduro +’: we are rehearsing here. The good comes, the new comes, the best comes. Do not miss it (…) through the media, networks and walls, “said the president.

Despite not giving more details, Maduro seeks to resume a space on state television —beyond the presidential channels— that allow him to give information and make propaganda as the late Hugo Chávez and his “Hello, President” did.

This is not the first time that Maduro has starred in a political television program. On other occasions he has done so via “In contact with Maduro” and “La Hora de la Salsa.” Both formats he has done for short periods of time.

The initiative promoted by the Head of State is registered within the framework of a situation in which the Prosecutor’s Office is conducting investigations of senior public officials at all levels for alleged corruption in companies and State institutions.

“Con Maduro +” will also be born at a time when in Venezuela there are evidences of arbitrary closures by Conatel of radio stations throughout the country.

In February of 2013the executive director of the NGO Espacio Público, Carlos Correa, warned that the reason why the National Telecommunications Commission (Conatel) ordered the closure of more than 80 radio stations during the year 2022 is not understood.

In an interview with Radio Fe y Alegría, Correa explained that only between January and September of last year, the closure of 85 radio stations was ordered; which, in his opinion, has to do with a “realignment” of the ownership structure of the media in the country, which involves a reduction in the number of stations.
