The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yván Gil, reported on the afternoon of Wednesday, November 6, that a ship with more than 300 tons of humanitarian aid left for Cuba to help the Antillean nation, as a result of the damage caused by this season’s hurricanes. ; the most recent being the one baptized “Rafael”.
Gil, who was in Puerto Cabello to dispatch the ship, indicated that the supplies sent were the product of collection by Venezuelans in “solidarity” with Cuba. “Just as we have always received solidarity from the Republic of Cuba, today the Venezuelan people express it,” he added.
He emphasized that hurricanes Oscar and Rafael create havoc in that nation, but said that due to the work of Civil Protection on the island, further damage was avoided.
For his part, the ambassador of that country in Venezuela, Dagoberto Rodríguez, expressed the gratitude of the Antillean nation for the help sent from Venezuela, which for him shows the solidarity and strong relations that exist between the two countries.

Hurricane Rafael crossed western Cuba on Wednesday, from south to north, as a category three hurricane, leaving affected areas in its wake – including a new total blackout in the country – with maximum sustained winds of 185 kilometers per hour and rains of up to 200 liters per square meter.
Rafael is causing considerable material damage, according to EFE, in the provinces of Havana and Artemisa.
This is the second hurricane to impact Cuba in the current hurricane season, after last October 21, Óscar (with category 1) penetrated the province of Guantánamo, the easternmost province of the island, which was later downgraded to a tropical storm. , before leaving Cuban territory.
