The Maduro administration expresses its total rejection of the statements by the President of the United States, Donald Trump, in which he assures that he authorized operations of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) in Venezuela.
In a statement released this October 15, the Foreign Minister of Venezuela, Yván Gil, reports that Venezuela will denounce “the bellicose and extravagant statements” of Trump before the Security Council of the United Nations (UN).
“Our Permanent Mission to the UN will raise this complaint before the Security Council and the Secretary General, demanding accountability from the Government of the United States and the adoption of urgent measures to prevent a military escalation in the Caribbean, a zone of peace declared by CELAC in 2014.”

In the document, it is noted that the unprecedented statement by the president of the United States threatens “the peace and stability of Venezuela” and assures that it “constitutes a very serious violation of International Law and the Charter of the United Nations.”
In this sense, it urges the international community to denounce these “clearly immoderate and inconceivable” statements.

This Wednesday, the president of the United States confirmed that he authorized CIA covert operations in Venezuela. However, he did not give details about the scope of the mission.
In a press conference held from the White House, Donald Trump justified his decision by pointing out that from Venezuela they have sent people with a history or involvement in criminal acts: “they have emptied their prisons towards the United States.” And the other reason that led him to authorize the CIA mission is drug trafficking, which according to him, comes from Venezuela.
