The Third Preparatory Investigation Court of Tambopata, in charge of Judge Ángela Cornejo Valderrama, ordered 36 months of preventive detention for the regional governor of Madre de Dios, Luis Hidalgo Okimura, and others investigated in the case “The Hostiles of the Amazon III ”, presumably dedicated to the illegal traffic of wood.
According to regional information, this pretrial detention occurs after 22 hearing sessions and, together with Hidalgo Okimura, the same measure was also issued for his former adviser, Palmer Pastor Velásquez, businessman Xiaodong Ji Wu, regional councilor Marcial Tapullima Yuyarima and Dix Willer Lipa Mercado.
Four other people under investigation were ordered to appear with restrictions and one under investigation was given house arrest.
According to the tax thesis, the regional president would be one of the alleged members of said organization and, according to the measure presented on October 21, 2021, those involved are being investigated by criminal organization, passive bribery and influence peddling.

Last Tuesday, October 12, 2021, the National Police raided the home of the regional governor of Madre de Dios, Luis Hidalgo Okimura, as well as those of Palmer Pastor Velásquez, the former Forestry and Wildlife Manager, Harry Pinchi del Aguila, and the lumber entrepreneur.
Along with the search request, the Public Ministry at that time requested the arrest of ten people, but the court only authorized the arrest of three.
The prosecutor’s office accuses the regional governor Luis Hidalgo Okimura of favoring the Chinese conglomerate of logging companies represented, among other people, by the Chinese citizen Xiaodong Ji, in order to obtain forest rights in exchange for benefits.
Among them, supposedly having been sponsored for a trip he made to China in 2019 and the delivery of donations to officials of the Forestry and Wildlife Management, as well as the appointment of relatives and acquaintances of the regional councilors in exchange for that these, presumably, vote according to the interests of the organization.
