The governments of Mexico and France stressed the complementarity of their economies and the willingness of both countries to strengthen their bilateral cooperation in different areas, according to the joint statement released yesterday, after the official visit that French President Emmanuel Macron made to Mexico on Friday, when he met with President Claudia Sheinbaum at the National Palace.
In the document, both leaders agreed that the strategic partnership that unites Mexico and France has “breadth and depth” and is based on common values, including respect for international law, democracy, human rights and the rule of law.
One of the points indicates that Macron invited President Sheinbaum to make an official visit to France in 2026, as part of efforts to consolidate the bilateral relationship in economic, political, scientific and cultural matters.

During the talks held on November 7, the two heads of state reaffirmed the importance of maintaining a world order based on multilateralism and expressed their support for the peaceful resolution of international conflicts.
In the joint statement they called for the cessation of hostilities in war zones and the construction of “inclusive and sustainable” peace agreements that consider the interests of all parties involved.
President Sheinbaum and her French counterpart also reiterated their commitment to gender equality and the defense of the principles of feminist foreign policy in international forums, highlighting the need to promote public policies that guarantee women’s rights and promote their participation in all areas.
Both governments recalled the historical ties that have united Mexico and France for more than two centuries, and reaffirmed their intention to deepen cooperation aimed at promoting “genuine shared prosperity.”
The declaration emphasizes that the relationship between both countries is based on mutual respect, transparency and the search for joint solutions to global challenges, from climate change to social equity.
