In his speech Machado took stock of the arduous path traveled by the Venezuelan opposition, from the first attempts to organize a unified response to the ruling party, to the recent events that have marked a critical phase in the fight for freedom. He recalled the process of the primary elections, which on July 28 marked a milestone in opposition unity, despite the difficulties imposed by the government.
“They told us that it was impossible to defeat the regime with its rules, abuse and persecutionbut we have proven the opposite. We won 70-30 and, in less than 24 hours, we showed with the minutes in hand what the true will of the Venezuelans is,” said Machado, referring to the opposition electoral process in which they faced the Chavismo machinery, which has maintained control of power in the country for more than 20 years.

The leader of Vente Venezuela also recounted the difficult conditions under which the opposition continues its fight, pointing out that the “repression has been brutal,” with cases of arbitrary arrests, torture and abuses against opponents and civilians. Machado mentioned the case of Edwin Santos, coordinator of the campaign command in Apure, who was kidnapped, tortured and finally found dead on a highway last week, reflecting the systematic violence against those who oppose the government.
“The regime is desperate,” Machado said. “Every day that passes, they lose more support inside and outside of Venezuela, and what remains is to continue increasing the pressure on them. These are not signs of strength, but of a regime that is isolated, that has lost its social base and faces internal tensions, while committing crimes against humanity. The best option for Maduro is to negotiate a peaceful transition,” he stressed.
Machado concluded his speech with a message of hope and determination. She assured that she was confident that the destiny of Venezuela will be freedom and the return of exiled Venezuelans. “The fight continues, until the end, there is no other option,” he reiterated.
