Luqueño councilor sounds to replace Kanazawa

Justo Manuel Marecos Acosta, a politician from Luque, current departmental councilor for Central, sounds like the main candidate to replace Félix Kanazawa as head of the National Directorate of Civil Aeronautics (Dinac).

According to strong rumours, Édgar «Beto» Melgarejo, who was forced to resign from the presidency of Dinac, after making some overinvoicing in medical supplies public in March 2020, made the request for Mario Abdo’s substitution.

The head of state has been analyzing the dismissal of Kanazawa after the scandal of the purchase of radars for US$ 7 million that do not work. Despite the serious irregularity, Kanazawa never reported the fact, being the Comptroller’s Office, which, after an investigation, revealed the irregularity and issued a complaint to the Public Ministry.
These radars are key to detecting drug planes.

Added to this is the Venezuelan-Iranian flight that brought Iranians considered terrorists by the United States to the country in mid-May. Dinac never issued any warning about this situation. The fact became public, after the same aircraft was held in Argentina, after wandering around the continent for several weeks after leaving our country. We tried to contact Kanazawa to confirm the rumour, but he is out of the country and Douglas Cubilla mentioned that he is not authorized to speak.
