The spokesperson for Together for Peru, Ruth Luquedefended the decision of the Inter-American Court of Human Rights in ordering Peru to temporarily refrain from executing the release of the former president Alberto Fujimoriwho is still in jail for the murders in the Barrios Altos and La Cantuta cases.
The parliamentarian specified that we live in a country that should be respectful of the decisions made by international bodies, such as the Inter-American Court. Likewise, when asked by a journalist about whether he would prefer that Fujimori die in prison like Abimael Guzmán, Luque Ibarra stated that it would not be any kind of retaliation.
“We have said it, we are respectful and we have to be a country that respects supranational decisions. Our country has been bound by decisions of the Inter-American Court of Human Rights for a long time. It’s not revenge, it’s justice”, he explained to the press on the outskirts of Congress.

At another point, the congresswoman referred to the clandestine Fray Vasquez Castillo and Gian Marco Castillonephews of the president peter castleand the former Secretary General of the Government Palace Bruno Pacheco. In that sense, he expressed that the investigations should continue their course, but from the Parliament they cannot interfere in the process.
“We remain firm as a bench in respecting the autonomy of decisions and judicial authorities. We have a Public Ministry that has to investigate and carry out its work in complete autonomy without any political interference. Any investigation of any person, be it for any situation -and if it is for acts of corruption-, whoever falls has to be investigated. That has been emphasized and has always been ratified by our bench”, he asserted.
