President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva is going to receive the visit of the Prime Minister of Germany, Olaf Scholz, next Monday (30). According to the Planalto Palace, the meeting represents the resumption of relations between Brazil and Germany and political, economic and environmental cooperation.
During the meeting, Lula and Scholz should discuss the trade agreement between Mercosur and the European Union. The Prime Minister is also expected to announce the release of resources for the Amazon Fund. Transfers were interrupted during the previous government.
According to the visit’s itinerary, Lula will receive Olaf Scholz in a ceremony to be held at 3:30 pm at the Planalto Palace. Next, a bilateral meeting and a parallel meeting between businessmen and ministers are scheduled.
The signing ceremony for the agreement on the Amazon Fund is scheduled for 6 pm and will be attended by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mauro Vieira. At 7 pm, the official dinner offered to the German delegation will take place.
During the delegation’s visit, the vice-president and Minister of Development, Industry, Commerce and Services, Geraldo Alckmin, will meet with Brazilian and German businessmen and with the Minister of Economic Cooperation and Development of Germany, Svenja Schulze.
