President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva voted this morning (6) in São Bernardo (SP), at the João Firmino state school. He stated that the election is the “most extraordinary moment for the people to say what they want, who they want and for what they want”. He also said that this is the opportunity for the people to correct errors possibly committed in previous elections and criticized the fake news.
“This moment is extraordinarily beautiful because people are understanding who has a government program for the city, who says they will govern the city seriously and take care of people, who talks about respecting gender issues”, he commented.
Lula also referred to the current phenomenon of fake news in the elections. Without naming names, he criticized candidates who have no commitment to anyone and who spread lies in the campaign. He highlighted the importance of people knowing the candidates’ CV and background.
“It is with this faith that I vote. Always with the perspective that as long as democracy exists, the people will have the right to choose, for better or worse,” he said. And he added: “When I come to vote, I exercise democracy in which I really believe, because some time ago I didn’t believe that a worker could reach the Presidency through voting, a worker could reach a city hall through voting and, suddenly , we governed several cities, several states and the Brazilian government”, he added.
