Lula signs bill that guarantees funding for the nursing floor

The President of the Republic, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, signed this Tuesday (18) the bill that opens budget forecast for the payment of the national nursing floor.

The text to be sent to the National Congress opens a special credit in the Federal Budget in the amount of R$ 7.3 billion. The project allocates resources to the Ministry of Health to make it possible to meet expenses with the national base of nurses, technicians and nursing assistants and midwives.

According to the Minister of Institutional Relations, Alexandre Padilha, the project should be analyzed by parliamentarians next week.

The legislation defines that the base salary of nurses hired under the Consolidation of Labor Laws (CLT) regime will be R$ 4,750. Also according to the norm, nursing technicians should receive 70% of this amount (R$ 3,325) and nursing assistants and midwives, 50% (R$ 2,375).

Performance

A survey by the Federal Nursing Council points out that, currently, more than 693.4 thousand nurses work throughout the country (with 170.7 thousand working in São Paulo, the state with the largest number of workers). According to the same database, the country has 450.9 thousand nursing assistants and more than 1.66 million nursing technicians, integrating around 2.8 million professionals in action, in the three functions throughout the country. country.

With regard to midwives, estimates by the Ministry of Health indicate that there are around 60,000 throughout Brazil, assisting approximately 450,000 births a year. Midwives are responsible for about 20% of births in rural areas, a percentage that doubles in the North and Northeast regions.
