President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva said he will discuss with the União Brasil party the nomination of a name for the place of communications minister, after Departure from Juscelino Filho of the position.
Lula gave the statement to journalists on Wednesday afternoon, after participating in the summit of the community of Latin American and Caribbean states (Celac) in Tegucigalpa, capital of Honduras. The president signaled that he should appoint federal deputy Pedro Lucas Fernandes (União Brasil-MA), current leader of the party in the House of Representatives.
“União Brasil has the right to refer me to a successor to Juscelino, who is from União Brasil. I already have the name, I know Pedro Lucas. I go back to Brazil tomorrow morning, I will talk to União Brasil and, if applicable, I already discuss his nomination. I will summon the president of the Senate, [Davi] Alcolumbre (Brazil-AP Union), some leaders of União Brasil and let’s talk, “said the president.
Lula also commented on the departure of Juscelino Filho from the position of Minister of Communications. The now former minister asked for dismissal of the role on Tuesday (8), after being denounced by the Attorney General’s Office (PGR) for alleged deviations in parliamentary amendments when he was a federal deputy.
“It is a practice, since my first term, that all people have the right to defend themselves, prove their innocence, but every time a minister is denounced by the Attorney General, it is a healthy policy that he leaves from government to be able to prove his innocence and not compromise the day-to-day government.
The president avoided announcing new changes in the first level, a possibility that gained strength after the first half of the term. “I will repeat to you: Any change in government is a unilateral decision of the President of the Republic, unless a party that has a minister wants to take the minister, he has the right to say that he no longer wants the minister, and I have the right or not, to indicate another of that party. Things are going well, a lot of investments, “he noted.
After the Celac summit, Lula is returning to Brazil. He should land at dawn on Thursday (10), in Brasilia.
