Lula says he will have the most important relationship with the National Congress

At the opening of the first ministerial meeting, today (6th), with the presence of 37 ministers, at the Planalto Palace, in Brasília, president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva defended the union between people to put an end to “family quarrels” motivated by political polarization. He demanded respect for laws and the Constitution and a good relationship with the National Congress. “I’m going to build the most important relationship with Congress that I’ve ever had,” he guaranteed.Lula says he will have the most important relationship with the National Congress

In this sense, the president asked that parliamentarians be well attended in all ministries. “We don’t rule Congress, we depend on Congress, and therefore, each minister has to have the patience and greatness to serve each deputy and senator well,” he added.

Lula said that, if that doesn’t happen, the government will listen to what it doesn’t want when it needs votes to approve important matters. “We have to know that we have to maintain a good relationship with the National Congress. It doesn’t matter that you differ from deputies and senators. When we go to talk, we are not proposing marriage”, he pointed out, saying that alliances can be temporary on issues that interest the people.

Still on the relationship with Congress, despite demanding commitment from his team, the president said that, if necessary, he will also take the field personally with the parliamentarians.

“I’ve already been in the presidency for eight years, and I would like to say that this time you don’t worry because you will have a president willing to carry out all the necessary conversations with political parties and leaders”, he stressed.

The President of the Republic reminded the team [de ministros] that many of them are the result of political agreements. “It’s no use having the most technically Harvard-educated government possible and not having a vote in the House and Senate,” he said.

Agribusiness

Still talking about relations with important sectors, at another time, Lula mentioned the Minister of Agriculture and Livestock, Carlos Fávaro (PSD-MT). According to him, “true agribusiness entrepreneurs know the need for production without having to offend or enter the Amazon forest or any other biome”.

Goals

Before the start of the meeting, in a message published on Twitter, the president said that the objective of today’s meeting is “to organize the works. I am optimistic with the beginning of the government. We took the poorly maintained house, but we are already working because our responsibility is very big with the Brazilian people. Good morning!”, He wrote.

The goals for the first 100 days of government are part of the main agenda of the first ministerial meeting. Lula’s opening speech – lasting 20 minutes – was open to the press and the meeting is currently closed. After a presentation by the Chief of Staff, Minister Rui Costa, on points raised by the transition team, each minister will have five minutes to set out his priorities.

Before the meeting began, First Lady Janja Lula Silva presented the ministers with a photo taken on Lula’s inauguration day with the full ministerial team.
