President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva sanctioned this Thursday (28) the bill that determines the creation of the National Registry of Pedophiles and Sexual Predators.
The new Law 15,035/2024 includes in the Penal Code authorization to carry out a public search using the full name and registration number in the Individual Taxpayer Registry (CPF) of those convicted of the crimes of rape, rape of a vulnerable person, sexual exploitation of children and adolescents and exploitation of prostitution, in addition to the conduct of filming and disseminating intimate videos of third parties without authorization.
The text also provides that the confidentiality of the convict’s data may be maintained by the Court. In this case, the judge must justify maintaining the restriction on access to data.
In the event of an acquittal, the accused’s personal information must be kept confidential.
The database will be formed from information contained in the National Register of Persons Convicted of the Crime of Rape.
The sanction of the law was also signed by the Minister of Justice and Public Security, Ricardo Lewandowski, the Attorney General of the Union, Jorge Messias, the Minister of Women, Aparecida Gonçalves, and the Minister of Human Rights and Citizenship, Macaé Evaristo.
