On medical advice, President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva announced today (25) that he will no longer travel to China this weekend. The postponement has already been communicated to the Chinese authorities “with the reiteration of the desire to schedule the visit on a new date”.
Lula underwent tests this Thursday (23) at Hospital Sírio Libanes, in Brasília, where he was diagnosed with bacterial and viral bronchopneumonia due to influenza A and started treatment.
According to a note signed by the doctor Ana Helena Germoglio, despite the clinical improvement, the medical service of the Presidency of the Republic recommends postponing the trip to China until the cycle of viral transmission ends. The trip already had been postponed from this Saturday to Sundaybut now, it has no date to occur.
President Lula would travel tomorrow (26) to China in search of expanding trade relations between the two countries. In the entourage, there would be hundreds of businessmen, in addition to governors, senators, deputies and ministers.
With the cancellation of Lula’s trip, the Minister of Finance, Fernando Haddad, will also not go to the Asian country at this time.
