The president of Brazil, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, will arrive in Uruguay this Wednesday, after being invited by the Uruguayan president, Luis Lacalle Pou, during his inauguration in Brasilia. The objective of the visit is to strengthen relations between the two countries and address issues of common interest, such as the environment and trade.

President Lula’s agenda includes a meeting with Lacalle Pou at the residence of Suárez and Reyes, followed by an extended meeting with the foreign ministers of both countries. The day will end with lunch. At 3:00 p.m., the Brazilian president will hold an act on the esplanade of the Montevideo City Hall, where the “Greenest” distinction will be awarded, in recognition of his commitment to caring for the environment.

Lula will also visit the former Uruguayan president, José Mujica, and Lucía Topolansky in his farm in Rincón del Cerro, along with his wife Rosângela da Silva. The president of the Broad Front, Fernando Pereira, and the president of the PIT-CNT, Marcelo Abdala, are also invited to the visit.

President Lula’s visit is an opportunity to strengthen the friendship between the two countries and collaborate on issues of global importance such as the environment and economic development. With the arrival of President Lula, a new era is being marked for Brazil after the controversial and unorthodox government of the far-right Jair Bolsonaro, who advanced against the Amazon in favor of industries, and regressed on human rights, and after the attempt to coup d’état by his fanatical followers, and for which the former president himself is suspected as a potential related party.

He will also be on the esplanade of the Municipality of Montevideo to receive an award from Carolian Cosse. Read the following note about it:
