President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva received, this Saturday (16), the mayor of Paris, Anne Hidalgo, who is in Rio de Janeiro to participate in meetings parallel to the G20. The meeting was held at the Copacabana Fort.
According to Palácio do Planalto, Lula and the mayor talked about the political situation in Brazil and Europe, the reconstruction of Brazil’s international role abroad and about the partnerships involving the projects of the New Growth Acceleration Program (PAC) with Brazilian municipalities.
Also participating in the meeting were the ministers of Foreign Affairs, Mauro Vieira, and of Finance, Fernando Haddad, the mayor of Rio, Eduardo Paes, and the special advisor to the President of the Republic, Celso Amorim.
Anne Hidalgo participated in Urban 20, a meeting of representatives from large urban centers that precedes the meeting of G20 heads of state.
The meeting was attended by mayors from Barcelona, Johannesburg, Montreal, Phoenix and New Orleans, among other cities, and sought to increase funding to combat climate change and the energy transition.
