President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva left, this Tuesday (11), for a two-day trip to China and a visit to the United Arab Emirates, next Saturday (15). This morning, Lula handed over the position to vice-president Geraldo Alckmin, who accompanied him to the Brasília Air Base.
The visit to China promises to be one of Lula’s most important and strategic international trips at the start of his term. Accompanying the president is a delegation of businessmen, governors, parliamentarians and ministers, and the expectation is that more than 20 agreements signed in several areas.
The official program begins on Thursday (13) in Shanghai, when Lula participates in the inauguration ceremony of former President Dilma Rousseff in charge of the New Development Bank, the development bank for the Brics, a bloc formed by Brazil, Russia, India , China and South Africa. In the afternoon, he meets with businessmen and in the evening travels to Beijing.
His stay in the Chinese capital extends until Friday (14th), where he will have a meeting with union leaders and bilateral meetings with the main authorities of the country, among them the Chinese president, Xi Jinping.
The trip to China is Lula’s fourth international visit after taking office in this third term. The president has already been to Argentina, Uruguay and the United States. She also received, in Brasilia, the Prime Minister of Germany, Olaf Scholz, at the end of January.
Upon returning to Brazil, on Saturday, the presidential plane will land in Abu Dhabi, capital of the United Arab Emirates, for an official visit.
