President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva brought together ministers this Monday (6) to receive an assessment of the reconstruction actions in Rio Grande do Sul in relation to the recovery of homes destroyed during the floods of April and May last year.
To date, the federal government has authorized the construction of 11,500 housing units in several municipalities in Rio Grande do Sul, in addition to the creation of special modalities of Minha Casa, Minha Vida for emergencies, such as Minha Casa, Minha Vida Calamidades Rural and the possibility of acquisition of ready-made properties, with a value of up to R$200 thousand.
In an interview with the program The Voice of Brazil Last week, the Minister of Cities, Jader Filho, highlighted that the government reinforced the budget with R$6.5 billion for drainage and dike recovery works in the metropolitan region, with the aim of preventing new disasters.
The federal government also announced that it will install a Government House in the state, a structure that brings together federal agencies to act in a coordinated manner in reconstruction actions. The Government House will monitor the execution of public policies and the progress of federal projects in areas such as housing, infrastructure and support for the agricultural sector.
Ministers Rui Costa (Civil House), Waldez Góes (Integration and Regional Development), Paulo Pimenta (Secretariat of Social Communication) and the substitute Minister of Cities, Hailton de Almeida, participated in the meeting. Also present at the meeting were the executive secretary of the Civil House, Miriam Belchior, and the president of Caixa Econômica Federal, Carlos Vieira.
