“It is this cause that moves me in politics. That is why I tell you that I am going to live to be 120 years old,” Lula said in an audiovisual amplified this Friday by various platforms.
He related that science notified that the person close to turning 120 was already born and that “it could be me.”
According to the founder of the Workers’ Party (PT), he is a man who has a cause and that “gives me life.”
Such a principle, he reiterated, “is to try to improve the life of this country, the life of the Brazilian people, because I know what suffering is.”
He pointed out that when he sees a person on the street, I know what he is going through.
“When I see a woman with a child on the sidewalk begging, I know what she is going through. This is the cause that moves me in politics », she insisted.
Also on the social network Twitter, Lula, his party’s undoubted presidential candidate for the October elections, praised the 13 years in the PT government, when “the best moments in Brazil” took place.
He denounced that most of what his political organization built was destroyed.
“There is no more Minha Casa Minha Vida (My House My Life, one of the largest housing programs ever created in the country, launched in 2009), they invented a yellow green card to not give jobs with rights,” he said.
The former labor leader published the video after the news broke that the governor of Sao Paulo, Joao Doria, would give up his bid for the presidency.
In addition to Doria, the former judge and former Minister of Justice Sérgio Moro also abandoned his aspiration to power to contest a seat in Congress. He left the Podemos party and joined Unión Brasil.
Participating this Thursday in Salvador in the launch of the PT list for the state government, Lula clarified that those who believed in the investigations of the disjointed Lava Jato judicial operation cannot be judged.
“I have already forgiven even those who deceived them, because we are going to defeat those people,” he said, admitting that he cannot govern with hatred: “I cannot govern wanting to take revenge on anyone, I have to govern with my heart.”
Rehabilitated in politics after recovering his rights, the former president will seek a third term in the elections after serving 580 days in political prison and having his sentences annulled.
No other candidate for the Planalto Palace (seat of the Executive Power) overshadows the leader of the PT, who leads all the polls with a consistent advantage, despite the re-election intentions of the ultra-right-leaning president Jair Bolsonaro.
