President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva expressed, on Saturday (19), solidarity with the ministers of the Supreme Federal Court (STF) after the sanctions imposed by the United States on Alexandre de Moraes and “Allies in the Court”. In a statement, the president classified the arbitrary and unfounded measure.
“My solidarity and support to the ministers of the Supreme Court affected by another arbitrary and completely founded measure of the US government,” the president said in a statement issued by the Planalto Palace.
Lula stressed that attempts to interfere with the court of another country disrespects international law. “The interference of one country in the justice system of another is unacceptable and hurts the basic principles of respect and sovereignty between nations,” he added.
Finally, the president pointed out that he will work to preserve democracy.
“I am sure that no kind of intimidation or threat, of anyone, will compromise the most important mission of national powers and institutions, which is to act permanently in the defense and preservation of the Democratic Rule of Law,” the text concluded.

The announcement of the US Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, is not clear which other STF ministers were hit by the sanction. The measure was announced hours after former President Jair Bolsonaro was the target of an operation of the Federal Police (PF), which searched and seized and determined the use of electronic anklet and night collection between 7 pm and 6am.
