Lula delivers sanitation and water supply works in Bahia

President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva participated, this Friday (7), of delivery of sanitation and water supply works in Bahia. The works are part of the Água for all program and are part of the new Growth Acceleration Program (PAC) and have federal and state government resources.Lula delivers sanitation and water supply works in Bahia

“No one lives without water, but no one lives without food either. And that’s why we have to make one more dam, we will guarantee, for small producers, water to make irrigation and will guarantee quality food in your home, ”Lula said in an event in the city of Paramirim, in the Bahian backlands.

During the event, the order of service was signed to start the construction works of the Rio da Caixa Dam, which aims to increase water availability in the region and reduce the impact of drought. The State of Bahia signed the contract for the execution of the work on March 25, 2024, which will have an investment of R $ 123.1 million from the Federal Government.

The federal government delivered the first stage of the Faith’s Integrated Supply System, in Bom Jesus da Lapa. With an investment of more than R $ 47 million, the work has 5.8 kilometers of water mains that transport water from the São Francisco River to the municipality. Also signed was the hiring authorization of the second stage of this system, with 95.2 kilometers long and R $ 258.7 million in investments. The work should benefit Bom Jesus da Lapa, Riacho de Santana and Igaporã, as well as 53 rural communities.

Another work delivered was Paramirim’s sewage system. Started in 2011, the system underwent an expansion and readjustment project. With an investment of R $ 26.5 million from the São Francisco and Parnaíba Valleys Development Company (Codevasf), the work directly benefits 20 thousand inhabitants of the region.

Finally, a service order was also signed for the preparation of the Bahian Sertão Canal Water Capture Project – Salitre stretch, which will be 10.6 kilometers long and investment of R $ 118.8 million. The system captures water from the São Francisco River to help supply municipalities of Salitre, Tourion/Poções, Itapicuru, Jacuípe and Vaza-Barris.
