President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva defended, on Monday (17), the direct sale of fuels to cheapen the cost of these products to consumers, without the intermediation of distributing companies. He also criticized the privatization of public companies stating that they should be inducers of national development.
“I think Petrobras has to take action. Especially diesel oil, we need to sell to large consumers directly, if you can buy straight, so we can cheapen the price of this diesel. If we can sell gasoline directly, if we can sell the gas straight, because the people are, deep down, robbed by the intermediary. He is robbed and fame is on the back of the government, ”he said during Petrobras Investment Announcement event in the naval industry in Angra dos Reis, Rio de Janeiro.
Lula recalled that, in addition to the amounts charged by the distributors, the Fuel Tax on Circulation of Goods and Services (ICMS), charged by the states. “The people do not know that gasoline leaves Petrobras at $ 3.04. And that in the bomb it is sold at $ 6.49. That is, it is sold for twice what it comes out of Petrobras. But when the increase comes out, the people think that Petrobras has increased. And it is not always Petrobras, because each state and each post is free to increase the time it wants, ”he said.
Lula also recalled that, until recently, the logic of importing machines and equipment prevailed at Petrobras, because buying abroad cost the company less. According to him, the government’s goal is now to nationalize the company’s suppliers.
“Our idea of putting national things, manufactured by our companies, on our ships, on our platform, in our refinery, is a mission that we will fulfill every day,” he said.

How much does it cost for our technological learning? How much does it cost for job creation? For salary payment? How much does this come back to the Brazilian people themselves? It is not Brazil that is from Petrobras, it is Petrobras that is from Brazil. And therefore, she needs to have a vocation to help develop this country, ”he said.
At the ceremony at the Transpetro Terminal in Angra dos Reis, the second bid of the Fleet Renewal and Expansion Program and signed intentions of intent for reuse of Petrobras platforms were signed.
New fleet
The fleet renewal and expansion program is part of the new Growth Acceleration Program (PAC). THE Bidding announced today It foresees the acquisition of five presumed type of petroleum liquefied gas (LPG) and three semi -refrigerated vessels that can carry LPG and ammonia
According to the government, the expansion of the Gaseiros fleet, from six to 14 ships, takes into account the increase in natural gas production in the country and intends to meet the demand on the Brazilian coast and river navigation, as already occurs in the Northern Region From the country and in Lagoa dos Patos, in Rio Grande do Sul. This hiring should triple Transpetro’s ability to transport LPG and derivatives and also allow the company to carry ammonia, expanding the company’s service portfolio.
Interested companies will have 90 days to submit the proposals. According to the schedule, the first ship should be launched within 30 months after the contract formalization. The others must be delivered successively every six months.
“Future gaseiros will be up to 20% more efficient in terms of consumption, will provide a 30% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions and will be able to work in electrified ports,” said the Presidency of the Republic in a statement.
Sustainability
Petrobras has also signed a protocol of intent to analyze the viability of platform reuse. By 2029, ten platforms will be demobilized.
The document was also signed by industry institutions that will collaborate for the study, such as the National Union of Naval and Offshore Construction and Repair Industry (Sinaval), the Brazilian Association of Sea Economics Companies (Abeemar) and Brazilian Institute of Petroleum and Natural Gas (IBP).
“In a scenario where production assets management, especially in the oil and gas sector, has become increasingly relevant in the context of sustainability and circularity, the reuse of platforms emerges as a strategic alternative in line with the ESG commitments [ações ambientais, sociais e de governança] Petrobras, ”explained the government.
