“If both sides say they won, why not have another election where the problems that contaminated or are said to have contaminated this election can be avoided? Whoever won will probably win again,” Amorim told CNN.
She stressed that in order to resolve the controversy surrounding the votes, it is important to have the physical records and reiterated that “it is not correct” to base a recognition on records that do not come from the National Electoral Council; this in reference to those published on a website by the Comando con Venezuela, with which the coordinator of Vente Venezuela, María Corina Machado, justifies González Urrutia’s victory.
Lula’s advisor stressed that dialogue is essential to resolve this problem and that “there must be a package” such as support for the elections, with the European Union being the most suitable for this.
