MIAMI, United States. – The president of BrazilLuiz Inácio Lula da Silva, underwent surgery this Tuesday at the Sírio-Lebanés Hospital, in São Paulo, to drain an intracranial hemorrhage caused by a fall that occurred on October 19.
The 79-year-old president is stable and under monitoring in the intensive care unit, according to the medical center in a newsletter published on social networks.
The operation went “without problems” and was carried out after Lula, suffering from “a headache”, went to a hospital in Brasilia on Monday night. An MRI revealed the presence of the hemorrhage, the origin of which is directly associated with the fall at the Alvorada Palace, the official residence of the Brazilian Presidency, which at the time caused a wound sutured with five stitches on the back of the neck.

After the discovery of the hematoma, the president was rushed to São Paulo, where he underwent surgery. “The surgery went without problems and, at this time, the president is well, under monitoring, in an intensive care bed,” the hospital detailed.
