SAN LUIS POTOSÍ, Mexico.- The ruler of Brazil, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, The president reaffirmed on Friday that he does not accept the victory of either Nicolás Maduro or the opposition leader, Edmundo González, in the presidential elections on July 28.

In an interview with MaisPB RadioLula da Silva said that he does not question the Supreme Court of Justice of Venezuela (TSJ) but that it is not the institution that should decide, but rather the National Electoral Council (CNE).

“Maduro did not listen to the National Electoral Council and went straight to the Supreme Court. He should go through the Council, which was created for that purpose,” said the Brazilian.

According to his speech on local radio, Lula da Silva said that “there is no evidence to prove” that Maduro won the election, but he did not recognize Edmundo González’s victory either: “I do not accept his victory or that of the opposition. I think there is something: the opposition says it won, he says he won, but there is no evidence. So, we demand it.”

He also reiterated the importance of holding new elections, otherwise, “Maduro will face the consequences of his gesture.”

Recently, Nicaragua’s ruler, Daniel Ortega, broke relations with Brazil and called Luiz Inácio Lula Da Silva “a creep” and the “representative of the Yankees” in Latin America.

Ortega criticized Lula’s position regarding the Venezuelan electoral results of the regime, which declared Nicolás Maduro the winner with 51.9% of the votes compared to 43.2% for the opposition candidate Edmundo González.

The Nicaraguan said that Lula has had a “brutal” and “cowardly” reaction for demanding transparency in the electoral process, something that, for Ortega, makes Lula part of the “servile, traitorous, groveling governments.”

“Now that the elections must be repeated, they say. Brazil, Lula, says it,” said Ortega, and claimed that the Brazilian repeats “the slogans of the Yankees and the Europeans, and of the grovelling governments of Latin America.”

The Brazilian government assured the regime of Nicolás Maduro that it would not accept the ruling of the Venezuelan Supreme Court that ratified the victory of the Chavista candidate, according to government sources declared to the newspaper Clarion.

“The request for the regime to present the minutes is emphatic,” the sources commented to the aforementioned media outlet. In addition, they argued that the National Electoral Council should be the body that determines the winner of the presidential elections on July 28 based on the minutes of the scrutiny.
