President-elect Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva congratulated Pope Francis on his birthday today (17). The pontiff turns 86 this Saturday.
Through a message on a social network, Lula wrote that Francisco is an example of “solidarity and dedication in the fight against hunger”. The text is accompanied by a photo of the two in a handshake.
“I wish good health to my friend Pope Francis, who turns 86 today. An example of life, solidarity and dedication in the fight against hunger and inequality. May his words continue to inspire us in the search for a more fraternal world of love and peace”, wrote Lula.
The president-elect visited the pontiff in 2020 at the Vatican, a few months after being released from prison.
Lula is in Brasília this Saturday (17th), meeting with allies at the hotel where he is staying. He is expected to announce the other members of his ministerial cabinet soon.
Earlier, the president-elect published another post, in which he said he currently wants to make commitments to education, health and housing. “In 2003, I said I had only one commitment. I wanted the people to be able to eat 3 times a day at the end of the term. Today I want to assume other commitments, with basic education, with health, with the issue of housing. We will take care of the Brazilian people. Good morning!” he wrote.
