President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva and Vice-President and Minister of Development, Industry, Commerce and Services, Geraldo Alckmin, are expected to discuss, on Monday (11), the last details of the contingency plan to help the sectors of the economy affected by the tariffs imposed by the United States to Brazilian products exported to the country. Alckmin leads negotiations with US authorities and also dialogue with the national productive sector. You Leaders have a meeting scheduled for this afternoon.
THE Plan should be released by this Tuesday (12) and provides for credit granting measures for most impacted companies and increase of government purchases. THE Priority is to serve small producers who have no alternatives to export to the United States. A parameter should be instituted to evaluate the effects of tariffs on each sector of the economy, based on the degree of exports to the country.
On the last day 6, the 50% rate came into force imposed on part of Brazilian exports to the US country. THE measure, signed on July 30 by the president of the United States, Donald Trump, affects 35.9% of goods sent to the US market, representing 4% of Brazilian exports.
Beyond the relief to exporters, the Government works to expand the sectors outside Trump’s tariff. About 700 products from Brazil were not affected and continue to pay 10% tariff. Among them are orange juice and pulp, fuels, ores, fertilizers and civil aircraft, including your engines, parts and components.
