President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva stated, on Thursday (4), that if the amnesty project is voted in Congress, there is “risk” that it is approved. In meeting with communicators and influencers of peripheral networks, Lula said that the mobilization against the approval of the text also has to be done by the people.
“If you are going to vote for Congress, we risk amnesty. Because Congress, you know, is not a congress elected by the periphery,” he said during a visit to the Serra cluster, in Belo Horizonte (MG).
According to Lula, the far right still has a lot of strength in the National Congress.
“Congress has helped the government, the government approved almost everything the government wanted, but the far right has a lot of strength yet. So it is a battle that has to be done by the people as well. So what I wanted to ask you is that, is that you have a commitment. The same way I said: Brazil only has one owner who is the Brazilian people, the communities have the best representative that are you,” Lula added to supporters.

“People need to be politicized. People need to be oriented on what is right and what is wrong. We need to fight fake news. There is no reason to let the lie be more important than the truth,” he told influencers on Thursday.
By citing several needs that still exist in the country, Lula asked the group for help to publicize public policies for the population. “I know this misfortune that happens on the periphery and I want to change that,” he said.
“So, I wanted your help to change. No problem complaining, no problem questioning, talking badly of minister, talking ill of the President of the Republic. We need to make things work, otherwise democracy has no sense to people. Democracy for the people is to eat, to live, to have access to culture, to leisure, to do what they want,” he added.
After the meeting, at an event in the community, Lula launched the GAS PEOPLE PROGRAMwhich will guarantee free cooking gas to low -income families.
