President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and his counterpart Donald Trump spoke by telephone this Monday about the global agenda, with the situation in Venezuela as a priority issue.
During the 50-minute talk, Lula stressed the need to preserve regional stability and guarantee the tranquility of Venezuelans.
“We exchanged opinions about the situation in Venezuela. I highlighted the importance of preserving peace and stability in the region and working for the well-being of the Venezuelan people,” he stated in his X account.

In the economic sphere, both leaders celebrated the strength of a relationship that has already allowed the elimination of a large part of tariffs on Brazilian products.
In terms of security, the Brazilian leader proposed strengthening the exchange of financial data to combat money laundering and arms trafficking, an initiative that Trump welcomed.
Regarding the conflict in the Gaza Strip, Lula suggested that the Peace Council proposed by Washington focus exclusively on that area and include Palestine. This position reaffirms his defense of the UN against the creation of parallel organizations; For this reason, he insisted on a comprehensive reform of the United Nations that would expand the permanent members of its Security Council.
The diplomatic agenda between the two will be consolidated next February, when President Lula Inácio Lula da Silva visits Washington after fulfilling his commitments in India and South Korea.
