Luis Valdez, secretary general of Alliance for Progress (APP), asserted that the current government of Pedro Castillo “has failed” and seeks to “become entrenched” in power, along these lines he considered that Congress must assume its role of political control. In addition, he stated that the best thing that can happen to the country at the present time is that we have a new president.
“It seems to us that this government has failed, it has a line that seeks to entrench itself in power. It is using the power of the State itself, it uses the Armed Forces and the Police, also in the Ministry of Transport”, he told RPP.

“The best thing that can happen to the country is that we have a new president. [Pedro Castillo] should resign because he does not have the capacity, because if he is not capable enough to form a work team, he has absolutely failed”, he referred.
As is known, the two presidential vacancy motions, promoted by opposition groups, did not obtain the 87 votes necessary to remove the head of state. On this subject, Valdez explained that at first his party considered that it was not the time to take a radical measure.
“APP is respectful of the constitution, at that time we said that there was no cause, we have to respect the constitution and the law, we consider that the Government has fallen into acts of corruption”, added the former congressman.
Along these lines, he considered that Aníbal Torres is not the most suitable person to lead the Council of Ministers, so he asked for a change in the Cabinet that would allow one to be more open to dialogue.
