Luis Sánchez from AEVE: ‘We are not calling for a strike, but for a march towards the Assembly’

Professor Luis Sánchez, General Secretary of the Association of Veragüenses Educators (AEVE), gave statements this Thursday on Radio Panama, about the strike calls made by the educators unions in the face of complaints for alleged breach of the agreements reached at the dialogue table which takes place in Penonomé, in the province of Coclé.

Sánchez indicated that they are not calling for a strike for next September 26, but for a march to the National Assembly, since “an agreement was signed in July with the Minister of Education that by 2023 the There is going to be a 5.5% increase in the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and we learn that the cut to MEDUCA is $527 million, which puts many investments and projects at risk.”

Also, he questioned that “what had to be allocated corresponds to $1,122 million and how is it that this cut is now made.”

The leader clarified that with this new call there will be no educational work stoppage and that for the month of October they will continue at the dialogue table for the start of the second phase.
