Luis Ratti files an appeal in the TSJ to appoint a new Primary Commission

Former presidential candidate Luis Ratti told the National Primary Commission to go “over the powers of the State”, by allowing the participation of disqualified candidates “who are unaware of the powers of the State and recognize supposed powers outside the country”.

The former presidential candidate Louis Ratti On the morning of May 30, it filed a request for constitutional protection to the Supreme Court of Justice (TSJ) against “the dark and flawed process of primaries” organized by the Unitary Platform, which brings together a part of the Venezuelan opposition.

According to Ratti, who comes from Chavismo and is currently linked to a supposed National Action Party (PAN) of Venezuela, there is a “marked partiality” of the National Primary Commission and rejection of candidates from parties not registered in the Unitary Platform, for which asked the TSJ to name a new commission and allow the participation of all those who wish to run for these elections.

Earlier, the Unitary Platform reiterated its commitment to the primaries and its support for the work carried out by the CP, in light of Ratti’s complaints. In addition, they reminded Ratti of his time with the Hugo Chávez Bolivarian National Front (2016) “and professional candidate against unity in the years: 2015, 2018, 2020 and 2021.”

The politician, in statements to FM Center, accused the CP of violating the Electoral Participation Law, although he did not specify the articles under which his complaint is based. He assured that he will go “to the end” and will also appear before the National Electoral Council to formalize his request for a new commission for these elections.

He said that this instance, being “elected by three people, already lacks legitimacy, a process that is managed via WhatsApp lacks transparency.” He also told them to go “over the powers of the State”, by allowing the participation of disqualified candidates “who are unaware of the powers of the State and recognize supposed powers outside the country.”

In addition, he assured that there is clarity of financing and “the campaign resources of three characters” who participate in these elections. On his Twitter account, he directly pointed out the pre-candidates Henrique Capriles (Primero Justicia), María Corina Machado (Vente Venezuela) and Freddy Superlano (Voluntad Popular) of “damaging the primaries.”

«The opposition has been kidnapped. We are 21 years old, from 2022 to 2023, the opposition is named by the same characters, they are the same types (…) If new characters appear, new faces in politics with different approaches do not allow it. So that political kidnapping is what has maintained this government. It is the worst government in history, but also the worst opposition in history”, he stated.
