He began as a soccer player in the minor divisions of Oriente Petrolero and in 1997 his opportunity came in the professional team. Luis Marín Camacho had his time at Blooming, La Paz Fútbol Club and he was even called up to the national team. He always kept a low profile, even until today when he is already the technical director.
He studied at the University of Soccer (UDF), He has a DT title with a professional license. He had been working with the Royal Pari reserve and a month ago he took over as driver of the first team when he was among the last in the Clausura tournament and now he is trying to qualify for an international tournament.
He is 45 years old (May 2, 1977), was born in Santa Cruz and in addition to being a qualified DT, he is getting ready to take his degree exam, in November, in the Commercial Engineering career at the Gabriel René Moreno Autonomous University (UAGRM).

You were directing the Royal Pari reserve and now you have been in charge of the first team for a month…
Yes, the leadership has given us confidence, the squad of players in the same way and it was time to assume. We had been working with the club’s reserve since last year, this opportunity arose and also the club’s need, so we took it on and God willing we hope to have a good campaign with the team in the remainder of the championship.
Do you feel like you grabbed the team at a difficult time?
That’s right, the situation is not easy. We were in the last positions in the standings, but little by little we have been adding important points and we are climbing the table, it is still a difficult moment, because many interests are at stake in this championship stage
At first our objective was to add to get out of the bottom of the table and little by little to add and stick to a possible qualification for the Copa Sudamericana, we know that if we add game after game we can achieve that goal, but we have to go step by step , do not give anything for granted, because now all the games are closed and it is difficult to add three.
Directing in the Professional Division does not catch you by surprise…
Before arriving at Royal Pari I had the experience of directing Oriente Petrolero for almost an entire wheel (in 2019), last year we also had to direct a couple of games here at the club and we already have some experience.
In addition, you studied for DT, because it has a professional degree…
We have prepared ourselves with the subject of studies, we have the qualification as a professional coach, so little by little we have been gaining experience and today we have had to lead a group with very good players, who although we have had some problems with injuries, there are already important players who are slowly coming back. We hope to take advantage of this opportunity and move the club forward.
What is publicly known is that you take charge of the team until the end of the Clausura tournament. Is there any chance of being in charge next year?
They have given us confidence, for now until the end of the championship, but I am sincere, we know that this is with results and what we want is to move the club forward. Then we will think and see how we end the year, now it’s time to focus game after game and try to add as many points to try to find a possible qualification for the South American.
While you work as a professional technician, you are also finishing your university degree…
At the time, during my time as a player, I had frozen my studies at the Gabriel René Moreno Autonomous University, in the Commercial Engineering degree, and a few years ago I resumed it, taking advantage of the fact that I had a little more time, organizing my life, so today I can say that I am a graduate of that career and preparing to defend my degree exam, that God willing I can achieve it next month.
Do you plan to leave the technical direction and pursue your new career?
Commercial Engineering is a personal challenge that undoubtedly reinforces my knowledge. I have a career as a football coach because I like it, but being a commercial engineer is a complement to it, I can apply everything to football and that is my intention, to continue linked to football with a broader panorama to address many more issues, from the administrative to the sports, but always related to football.
How difficult is it to achieve another profession when football takes up a lot of time with matches, trips and concentrations?
At the time, yes, it was very complicated, because of the timetables, concentrations, trips, there is no timetable in football, I had to go to classes in person and knowing that it is a more complex higher education, you have to dedicate a lot of time to it, but I was given the opportunity to resume, to organize myself better and with a lot of effort, because it is not easy to study and work, we managed it. Thank God we are about to finish a degree also in academics.
What do you aim for as a coach, do you have the national team in mind?
Dreaming is free, the truth is that if you prepare yourself, if you continue to make an effort, if things go well, if you get the results that rule football, why not dream? But that dream has to be accompanied by preparation, effort and why not think about the national team, I think we can all aspire to that and the important thing is to be ready if at some point it’s time.
The Qatar 2022 World Cup is approaching. Do you have a favorite to win the title?
I have Brazil as one of the main favourites, without ruling out the great powers like Germany and Spain, who are always fighting for the title.
