The plenary session of the National Assembly approved in the third debate the bill that encourages electric mobility in the country.
Along the same lines, Luis Felipe Gómez, an expert in electric mobility, mentioned that the world needs businesses that are framed towards sustainability; therefore, they decided to create the first network of electric chargers in Panama.
“We have a network of more than 18 chargers throughout the country and there is a great issue of consumer anxiety that if it runs out of battery, where to charge the car, and more companies have joined that want to attack that anxiety,” he remarked. .
The expert assured that this law creates important incentives for the citizen, such as exemption from import taxes and the payment of license plates for the first five years of the car.
“Something that is important for the companies that are installing chargers is that this law allows reselling energy to charge electric vehicles and that was prohibited, only distributors had a concession,” added Gómez.
Another important change is that it will force us to have the infrastructure, that our public transport and the State fleets will also have to be gradually replaced.
