Luis erects a great international leadership

Luis Abinader arrived at Celac preceded by the privilege granted by the WHO to narrate to the heads of state and government of the globe the successful experience of his government in the fight against the effects of the Coronavirus pandemic.

It arrived preceded by the recognitions of the World Tourism Organization, of the UN, and the World Tourism Council, private, for the rapid tourist recovery of the DR when a large part of the world was still suffering from unemployment and restrictions of all kinds.

The conclave was presented with the endorsement of the World Bank, ECLAC, the IDB, the main world risk rating firms, for the magnificent performance of recovery and economic growth despite the hurricane winds of inflation and recession still blowing around the world.

It was up to Luis to deliver his speech, with serenity and precision, with the ethical quality of establishing a government that, based on the independence of the Public Ministry and the national consensus, has reversed corruption and impunity, and the institutional disaster encountered upon his arrival at the can.

He gave a brilliant and courageous speech before the Latin American and Caribbean heads of state and government in a world tense by serious geopolitical conflicts and economic imbalances in which -due to the saturating overload of information from the networks, among other factors- democracy is rediscovered mounted on enormous social inequalities that threaten the very existence of political and social governance.

Calling them as Celac to assume the responsibility of defending the sovereignty of the peoples and promoting regional integration based on principles and values, the president summarized the sentiment of our peoples in the following terms:

“It is our obligation to condemn the violent and vandal acts against the legitimate and constitutional government of President Lula in Brazil, which sought to subvert the will freely expressed at the polls by the Brazilian people.”

“Celac must call for peace and demand that serious work be done to stop the horrors of a war (in Ukraine) that continues to wreak havoc on populations that do not deserve to pay the price of other people’s conflicts.”

The crisis in Haiti “is of such a magnitude that it continues to worsen, for which reason the international community must act immediately.” “The Dominican Republic will continue to offer the Haitian people all the support that is within our reach, but I reiterate that the solution to such a serious problem is not in our hands.”

Faced with a speech of such lucidity and poise, most of the statesmen and representatives of governments and international organizations present expressed their appreciation and admiration to our president.

And for this reason, in his speech, Chilean President Gabriel Boric also identified himself with the Dominican position on food deficits and their ravages in the most vulnerable social classes.

While in New York the UN Security Council was waiting for the DR to identify with the position of Foreign Minister Roberto Álvarez of “pacification, political dialogue and elections” to face the crisis in Haiti.
