The leader of the Boschist Force and candidate for secretary general of the Dominican Liberation Party (PLD), Luis de Leonprotested vigorously against “the act of discrimination” to which he was subjected last Saturday, when the secretary general, Charlie Mariotticalled the other applicants and ignored their name.
“At that moment he excluded our candidacy, even though we were placed in front of him, with the Dominican flag in our hands, and he completely ignored this reality,” he stated.
In that activity, carried out in the same National House of the PLDDe León stood up and protested, calling the event “unprecedented”, while the entire protesting public reminded Mariotti that Professor De León aspires with a legitimate right to the general secretary of the PLD.

«Both the secretary general and the president of the Commission of the 10th Congress, Cristina Lizardothey should have avoided that bad moment, since they have caused indignation in the bases of the PLD and throughout society, because we have been characterized by having a moral conduct without wrinkles, with more than 50 years of faithful militancy in the PLD and more than 25 years at the head of the Boschist Force,” he said.
«We consider that this fact of ignoring and challenging our candidacy, which is planted in the bowels of the party, is an anti-Boschist act, since we have characterized ourselves by always defending the doctrine of Prof. Juan Bosch for long decades, and it offends the aspirations of the bases, who want a renewed, self-critical, strengthened and totally unified party,” he continued.
De León, presidential candidate and member of the LDP Central Committeeassured that other candidates respond to a powerful economic leadership within the purple party, and declared that these others represent economic sectors within the party, while he “represents the people and society, in his purpose of political and social exercise attached to the values intrinsic values of democracy, freedom, and political morality.
In that sense, he demanded that the Organizing Commission of the 10th Congress and the Political Committee guarantee the equal participation of all candidates, without privileging the members of that Committee who “are part of certain economic sectors that exercised power during the 20 years of PLD government.
Likewise, he said that now more than ever his candidacy reaffirms his commitment to the party’s bases, “to rescue, renew and reunify the PLD, in order to form a responsible opposition, without fear, to defend the Dominican people in the face of constitutional reform and the tax reform promoted by the Government.
He stressed that his aspirations point out the need for healthy criticism and self-criticism for the party, in order to renew the party leadership and regain power in 2028.
