Luis Barría: «They want to violate the principle of non-regression on Cinta Norteña»

Former deputy Luis Barría: “They want to violate the principle of non-regression,” regarding Cinta Norteña as a protected area in light of a proposed law that seeks to convert it into municipal property of the Municipality of Panama.

Barría pointed out that: “Article 1 of the disastrous draft bill presented by a deputy in the Assembly establishes the Cinta Norteña as municipal property of the Municipality of Panama; the law does not say that.

Regarding Deputy Zamora, who is the proponent of the draft bill, Barría said: “I find it hard to believe that there is a deputy handing over a protected area that is privately owned, and putting into law that the property be taken away from the poor Panamanians and titled in the name of the Municipality.”
