Recently, Luis Alonso Colmenares shared a moving message on his X account, where he reflected the emotional “torture” he feels every October, the month in which his son died. In his message, he expressed his deep sadness and the difficulty of living with this memory.
«Forgive me, my God. I do not insist on challenging your omnipotence. You know me and you know that I trust you because I believe in you. But what if tomorrow, Tuesday, was already November… I no longer have the same strength to walk with the torture that it means to live through all of October, until the 31st,” he wrote, asking for strength and perseverance to continue his search for justice.
Forgive me my GOD. I do not insist on challenging your omnipotence. You know me and you know that I trust you because I believe in you.

In June 2024 they reopened the case
The Colmenares family’s fight does not stop. On June 18, the Supreme Court of Justice admitted the appeals filed by Jaime Lombana and the Attorney General’s Office against the decision that acquitted Jessy Quintero and Laura Moreno, who had to respond to the calls of justice for the case of Luis Andrés Colmenares.
After the hearing in the judicial body, the Colmenares family was surprised by the attitude of the Prosecutor’s Office, which, according to them, tried to “wash its hands” by requesting that the death of Luis Andrés be declared a homicide, but without seeking the annulment of the sentence that freed Moreno and Quintero.
Years ago, Jessy Quintero and Laura Moreno were acquitted
In 2011, the Prosecutor’s Office reopened the case and the two women were arrested again, accused of false testimony and improper co-authorship of aggravated homicide. However, in 2017, both Laura and Jessy were acquitted, and in May 2021, the Superior Court of Bogotá confirmed this acquittal. The court argued that the evidence presented was not sufficient to implicate the defendants.
The Colmenares family continues to seek answers and justice in a case that has shocked Colombian society. Luis Alonso and Oneida’s fight to discover the truth behind their son’s death is a reminder of the need for justice and transparency in the justice system.
As another anniversary of the tragedy approaches, the family’s hope to see those responsible brought to justice continues to be their driving force.
