The Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Cecilia Lopez has appointed Luis Alberto Villegas Prado as Deputy Minister of Agricultural Affairs.

Villegas Prado is agro-industrial engineer from the Universidad la Gran Colombia, with a master’s degree in Business Administration from the Icesi University, a leadership diploma from TEC Monterrey – Harvard, a diploma in Project Management from the Javeriana University and a master’s degree in International Relations from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, from Tufts University, as well as senior researcher at the Center for Maritime Studies.
Villegas has 22 years of experience in the sustainable value chain, strategic direction and other topics. He was a productive chain consultant at the Secretary of Agriculture of Valle del Cauca and head of vegetable seeds for Andean countries at Syngenta.

He worked at the Planeta Valle Foundation and the Carvajal Foundation on issues of entrepreneurship and education. Similarly, between 2009 and 2015 was part of the non-profit organization ValleEnPaz, dedicated to sustainable development and peacebuilding.
Later, he was at Sustag Inc / Agrored SAS, and was an independent advisor to the Palmira Mayor’s Office.

Currently, he is working as a professor at the Javeriana and ICESI universities, on issues of formulation and evaluation of projects in master’s programs, in the city of Cali.
