Santo Domingo.- The candidate for mayor of the Santo Domingo Este municipality, Luis Alberto Tejeda, described citizen security, the control of health epidemics, economic inflation and the organization of presidential, congressional and municipal elections as the main challenges that the government of President Luis Abinader will face for the new year 2023.

Luis Alberto pointed out that “the atmosphere of anxiety and citizen insecurity that, during this 2022, makes the Dominican people restless, to such a degree that more than 64% fear going out into the streets at night, demand that the government implement a policy that guarantee the reign of order and social peace during the new year 2023”.

“We also demand that the national and municipal governments take advantage of the arrival of the new year so that, through effective actions and mechanisms, they proceed to create the conditions that preserve the health of our families, controlling the epidemics of dengue, leptospirosis, and cholera,” he requested. the political leader.

The member of the Central Committee of the Dominican Liberation Party-PLD-warned that it is essential that the Government put an end to its improvisations and erroneous economic policies, that it proceed to control the inflation of the products of the basic food basket and stimulate national production , to reduce unemployment and poverty that negatively impact the quality of life of Dominicans.

“Equally, we demand that the National Congress act responsibly and promptly so that, in the first quarter of 2023, it proceeds with the approval of the modifications to the Party and Electoral Laws (33-18 and 15-19); and that the president deliver the budget that the Central Electoral Board needs, to guarantee that the organization and development processes of the next elections are equitable, democratic, and transparent,” demanded Luis Alberto.

The former candidate and candidate to lead ADES reiterated that imposing the citizen security regime, controlling the epidemics that threaten the health of the people, controlling inflation and guaranteeing that the 2024 elections are held in order and without blemishes, will be the main demands to promote so that the new year 2023 allows the Dominican people to continue advancing towards progress, modernity and social well-being.

“As for our municipality, Santo Domingo Este, it is urgent to proceed to collect the garbage that fills the streets with landfills, to correct the storm drainage problems, to illuminate the streets, to reconstruct the sidewalks and curbs, and to comply with the execution of the works of the participatory budget, which are priority demands of the communities of the three districts of Santo Domingo Este”, he indicated.

Luis Alberto said he was convinced that if the national and municipal governments assume and execute the demands raised through this statement, the year 2023 will be of great benefit to the Dominican people, while pointing out that it is his main aspiration.
