Luis Abinader inaugurates La Gaviota Amphitheater in Ciudad Juan Bosch

The president Luis Abinader inaugurated this Thursday the La Gaviota Amphitheaterin Ciudad Juan Bosch, a modern cultural infrastructure that is part of a broad set of works executed and under development in this model city.

The work was developed by the Trust for the Construction of Low-Cost Housing of the Dominican Republic (VBC-RD), in coordination with Movexco Constructora, as part of a strategy that integrates housing, art, culture, sports, basic services and spaces for community coexistence.

The Minister of the Presidency, José Ignacio Paliza, stated that with this work a developed community is achieved and with an impressive change for the beneficiaries. “Now we are achieving more developed citizens.”

Meanwhile, the executive director of the VBC-RD Trust, Camel Curi Lora, highlighted that the “La Gaviota Amphitheater” and the set of works developed respond to a vision of the city that transcends the construction of homes.

Curi Lora explained that this project was received in a stagnant manner, with little attractiveness and with a debt of 105 million pesos. He specified that in 2020 there were only 4,777 homes, while now there are 15,500 homes. He pointed out that the entire project includes about 25 thousand homes.

“With these investments we reaffirm that urban development is not limited to building houses, but to creating communities with cultural, sports, environmental spaces and services that dignify the lives of families. Ciudad Juan Bosch continues to consolidate itself as a model of a planned and human city,” said Curi Lora.

In addition to the amphitheater, Ciudad Juan Bosch contemplates a wide range of works carried out and in development, such as:

• Two wastewater treatment plants

• A sports complex

• A funeral home

• Ecological park

• Vitrified regulatory tank

• A large parking lot for the amphitheater and the area

The La Gaviota Amphitheater consolidates Ciudad Juan Bosch as a benchmark for comprehensive urban development, access to culture and quality public spaces, in coherence with the Dominican Government’s vision of promoting planned, inclusive and sustainable communities.

The inauguration of the La Gaviota Amphitheater will run from Thursday, February 12 to Sunday, February 15, with a high-level artistic program, coordinated with the Ministry of Culture, which will turn this new space into the cultural epicenter of Ciudad Juan Bosch.

With this inauguration, the Dominican Government reaffirms its commitment to sustainable urban development, culture and the creation of public spaces that strengthen citizen coexistence and raise the quality of life of the families of Ciudad Juan Bosch and surrounding areas.
