Santo Domingo.– The president Luis Abinader iHe reported in his accountability speech that more than one million Dominicans entered the financial system during 2025 through Banreservas programs, consolidating the state entity as the main driver of financial inclusion in the country.
In his speech before the National Assembly, the president specified that, in addition, 110,000 people had access to formal credit for the first time, significantly expanding access to financing and strengthening the participation of thousands of citizens in the formal economy.
The head of state highlighted that this performance allowed Banreservas to top the Financial Inclusion Ranking of the Superintendency of Banks, positioning itself as the most inclusive institution in the national financial system.
On the financial level, Abinader indicated that the entity chaired by Dr. Leonardo Aguilera closed 2025 with profits of RD$25 billion and assets that reached RD$1.28 billion, reaffirming its leadership within the Dominican banking system.
The president framed these results within the general strength of the national financial system, whose total assets stood at RD$4.15 trillion, equivalent to 56.1% of GDP, with a year-on-year growth of 7.9% and a solvency index close to 17%, well above the regulatory minimum.
Abinader stressed that the expansion of banking coverage and access to credit constitutes fundamental tools to boost consumption, promote entrepreneurship and contribute to the sustained reduction of poverty in the country.
