Luis Abinader dismisses the director of Immigration and appoints Vice Admiral Lee Ballester

Luis Abinader destituye al director de Migración y nombra a vicealmirante Lee Ballester

Santo Domingo.-The President of the Republic, Luis Abinader, dismissed this Sunday the general director of Migration, Venancio Alcántara, who had held the position since 2022 and appointed Vice Admiral Luis Rafael Lee Ballester in his place.

The appointment of the high official occurred through decree 560-24 issued on Saturday by the Executive Branch and announced this Sunday by the Palace.

Vice Admiral Luis Rafael Lee Ballester, new director of Immigration

At the time of his appointment, Lee Ballester was serving as director of the Armed Forces Command, Control, Communication, Computers, Cybersecurity and Intelligence Center, known as C5i.

He is a graduate of the Naval Academy of the Navy, as an honorary graduate in 1983, and with vast experience in different areas as a directive coordinator related to border security reinforcement measures.

He has also been coordinator of support services for the National Police in relation to Citizen Security, and an expert on issues related to the conventions and regulations of the International Maritime Organization (IMO).
