His complicity in the coup d’etat executed by Pedro Castillo; The serious crime committed by supporting the democratic break that December 7, 2022 seems to be barely, incredibly an anecdote.
In that country upside down that is often Peru, Betssy Chávez, accused of rebellion, has gone from preventive detention and hunger strike to freedom without restrictions.
The former Prime Minister, whom the cameras of the Golden Hall revealed coordinating the coup act, has stretched her unfair days of luck: the Prosecutor’s Office gave yesterday of her request for prolongation of preventive detention against her.
Supreme prosecutor Edward Casaverde argued that in accordance with the recent judgment of the Constitutional Court (TC) that ordered the release of Chávez, it is unfeasible to request this extension when the period of preventive detention has already overcome, so it renounced the procedural act that it made on December 18, 2024, and because, in addition, the defendant is already free.
The Judiciary had nothing more than to archive this procedural act.
But who with his actions endorsed the coup d’etat and brought his tongue to democracy, could also show the language to Congress, that same that suspended it from his functions for the attack in the palace.
And it is that the legislator Roberto Sánchez, one of the ministers of the Chávez Cabinet at the time of the coup, announced that he will hire his friend and allied Castillista as a trusted advisor in his congressional office.
As if nothing had happened that December 7, the parliamentarian justified his request pointing out that there is no legal impediment and highlighting the technical and political experience of his friend Betssy, who, when he endorsed the castle’s message, supported the closure of that congress to which he would ironically be close to returning.
“Dr. Betssy is entitled, she has a master’s degree, she has professional training. I would be very happy to be a professional support in my office,” said Sánchez, who has sent her requirement to Parliament requesting her as an advisor Level 8, corresponding to her a salary of 8 thousand soles.
That is, on top of being the accomplice of the coup, Chávez Chino will receive his salary with the money of all Peruvians, in addition to the benefits that corresponds to him as a parliamentary worker.
The process for its incorporation does not require public tender, the presentation of an affidavit and documents of the process is enough. Chavez will fulfill technical, political and accompaniment support functions in parliamentary work, among others.
Working in Congress will also ensure labor roots to the suspended legislator. His lawyer already indicated that his sponsor has pointed out Lima as his place of residence. Chávez will not sit in his seat while he is investigated, but in an office of Congress. Good luck for these days for those who attempted democracy.
