This Friday, Justice will finally announce the penalty that Magdalena Espósito Valenti and her sentimental partner, Abigail Páez, will pay for the murder of Lucio Dupuy occurred in November 2021.
Two weeks after they were found guilty of “homicide qualified by the link, treachery and cruelty” for the murder of Lucio DupuyEsposito, mother of minorand Páez, who would have given him the beating that took his life, hope to receive life imprisonment.
Nevertheless, the expectation is focused on knowing if the judges will apply the “indefinite accessory time” on the accused for the crime of Lucido Dupuywhich —according to the Criminal Code— establishes that “the convicted person must serve the entire sentence without receiving any type of early release benefit.”
In this way, the trial that lasted for more than three months and was held in the Santa Rosa Court, made up of judges Alejandra Ongaro, Daniel Sáez Zamora and Andrés Olié, will conclude.
It was confirmed that the defendants will not attend the hearing, since they will receive the sentence from San Luis Penitentiary Complex No. 1, where they are being held.
Those who will be present are Christian Dupuy, father of the minor; his paternal grandparents, Ramón Dupuy and Silvia Gómez; the plaintiff attorney, José Mario Aguerrido; the Public Prosecutor’s Office team made up of Máximo Paulucci, Verónica Ferrero, Marcos Sacco and Walter Martos; and the advisors for Children and Adolescents, Graciela Massara and Gabriela Manera.
The reading of the sentence will take place this Friday at 12:00. The hearing will be broadcast live on the YouTube channel of the Pampean Judiciary. Due to the impact of the case, civil society demands that there be greater protection for boys and girls throughout the country.
Security will be strengthened in the courts
While waiting for the sentence that the defendants will receive, there will be a massive mobilization outside the courtswith which citizens seek, on the one hand, to express their repudiation and rejection of the crime, and on the other, to support the family of the minor.
Within this framework, a special security operation is being prepared in the court building, where posters have already been posted under the slogan “Justice is perpetual.”
