This Thursday, in the Courts of Dolores, the ninth hearing of the trial for the crime of Fernando Baez Sosawho on January 18 will be three years old since he died.
For today’s session, several experts were summoned to testify, who were in charge of analyzing the videos that were taken while Fernando Baez Sosa he was attacked on the outskirts of a bowling alley by eight rugby players. The images were used during the investigation to identify those responsible for the attack against the student.
In total, four policemen were in charge of analyzing the audiovisual material, who, during the first part of today’s debate, explained how the analysis of the images was carried out to identify the attackers of Fernando Baez Sosa.
In the midst of the statements, they showed a sketch of the path where the attack occurred and where the location of the victim and the rugby players can be seen. Then, the complaint presented a video that shows Tomás D’Alessandro, a friend of the victim, being beaten.
At the scene, a young man in a black T-shirt can be seen passing behind a car, who according to the experts was Luciano Pertossi, one of those involved. The young man immediately raised his hand and requested, through his lawyer, to testify at the hearing, which was a surprise.
In this way and after three years of silence pact, Pertossi spoke for the first time about the crime and assured: “I want to make a clarification. I want to clarify that I am not there, as they are saying”. During the rugbier’s statement, the experts were withdrawn from court.
At the young man’s words, prosecutor Juan Manuel Dávila asked to ask where he was, but Pertossi refused to answer. “Don’t force yourself to ask questions, because I’m not going to answer” he stated. After the rugbier’s statements, the debate entered the intermission room.
When will there be a sentence?
The trial is about to complete its second week of hearings, in which testimonies from friends of the victimexperts, troops, doctors, among other specialists who have been part of the case.
In this sense, in accordance with the established schedule, it is expected that a sentence will be issued on January 31. The defendants could be sentenced to life imprisonment, which in Argentina has a maximum of 35 years.
